This work in progress has a special story. It’s the family home that the owner grew up in, which he recently bought back to turn in into his family home with an adjacent Airbnb. Set in Amsterdam’s historic Jordaan area with idyllic views of the canals, MEK studio handles the complete renovation from construction down to the interior design. We’re investing in extraordinary and sustainable materials which leave room for a fuss-free interior that centers around a fireplace at the heart.

Interior architecture and renders in collaboration with Barde + vanVoltt

Embracing the uniquely long and narrow floor plan of the home, we’re creating an 11 meter long kitchen that stretches the entire length of the space, avoiding the traditional ‘kitchen corner’.

This monumental home has idyllic low ceilings, so we’re creating the master bedroom and bathroom as an open plan to visually expand the space.
